The British government is ready to advance with utilizing the total value of seized Russian funds to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the decision would be implemented in tight collaboration with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government launched its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, resources sent to Ukraine using Russia's assets had only been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Russia's state assets to conclude the conflict.

He noted that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This statement is subsequent to European representatives met in Copenhagen last week to discuss utilizing immobilized Russian assets for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to take or otherwise use immobilized Russian holdings, according to media sources.

The worth of seized Russia's funds in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky calls on UK's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the PURL program

The Russian government launched large-scale aerial attacks throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

While praising the Britain's firm backing for Kyiv, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the system, as well as impose more sanctions on Russia.
