Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

The reason behind the attack is unknown and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Authorities said that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a building in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had spent several hours at the site managing the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, it was reported.

"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Call for Public Assistance

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.

"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

Outpouring of Grief

His family member, Nicole Stock, expressed the relatives are devastated to process his death.

"I am devastated. I am shattered," she stated.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."

She appealed to the public to not sharing graphic images from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a South African broadcasting platform.

In addition to his media career, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including security provision, offering high-level security services and managing safety for high-profile events across South Africa.
