Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
