Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.

'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his left leg post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

Team management reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour in Sydney gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad to provide backup.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he returned for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a variation to the batsman and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the Boxing Day Test having missed the previous Test.
