The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait for three decades, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the Premier League last season, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage a different club in England. Which implies should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about which situations would need to occur to bring him back to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits at the club. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the tweaks that took the title last campaign. They've been defeated a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother in July.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
