Coogler's Thoughts on Casting

We requested him to perform this challenging task technically, playing two different individuals, but it also required acting that was essential to have the backstory we developed previously to pull this off.
To see him acknowledged by his peers as well as others in Hollywood, I'm sure it would signify so much for him.

The director has earlier announced an upcoming X-Files revival currently being developed.

Speaking about additional factors drives his decision to reimagine the classic franchise, he shared:

Like my connection to the Rocky series through my dad, the show is deeply meaningful with my mom.
My mother is incredibly important to me — in fact, she's in attendance today — making this a big one personally.
I aim to honor by her and the fans. My mother has seen a portion of the material I developed for the reboot. She’s fired up.
