England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the knockout stage games.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being nominated for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

The Darts Prodigy

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Being nominated for the honour once more is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin came in second place in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
